Traditional publishing does seem to take forever, but there are many rewards to going that route. One is having both an editor and a copyeditor to make sure your story stays on course. I have just received the copyedits from Natasha of Canongate/Severn House for a book that won't be published until the end of October. To give you some idea of the scale of this enterprise. Obviously, watch this space for updates on when the book goes on sale. But first, I will see the proof pages. Those are the pages showing how the book will actually look in print. And this is the last chance to catch any pesky typos. By the time it's over I'll have read this book about six times, which is why I never go back and reread my books. I feel at some point I have thoroughly read them already - no need to look back!
