I just learned my short story for Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, "Something Blue," is being prepared for print. If past experience is any guide, it will appear in magazine form in about three months.
This is a story that germinated in my mind a long time and has a message that is important to me. Although I avoid preaching in any of my writing, some things need to be said. I hope you'll look for this story in your subscription copy of EQMM or on newsstands later this year. Congratulations to all the nominees for the Anthony Award for Best Short Story, especially my friends among the members of @SMFS. A full list of all the nominees in all categories appears here:
E.A. Aymar. "The Search for Eric Garcia." Midnight Hour: A Chilling Anthology of Crime Fiction from 20 Authors of Color. Richie Narvaez. "Doc's at Midnight." Midnight Hour: A Chilling Anthology of Crime Fiction from 20 Authors of Color. Gigi Pandian. "The Locked Room Library." Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine. July/August 2021. Gabriel Valjan. "Burnt Ends." This Time for Sure: Bouchercon Anthology 2021, Ed. Hank Phillippi Ryan Just launched at Amazon (free download with Kindle Unlimited account). This story starring amateur sleuth Magdalene Duchateau first appeared in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine. It was nominated for various short fiction awards and is a particular favorite of mine. I hope you read it and enjoy.
